Day 10 GDMBR Friday June 20th 2025,
The jet lag faded out and I had a decent night of sleep. Headache is over and I had a wonderful two breakfast. One I made myself yoghurt, fruit and the second breakfast Alex made that was a Oatmeal kind of breakfast wonderful! Megan showed me how to make coffee with the system they use and I could use my oat milk with it and had a great coffee.
Today my goal is to get maps on the GPS device from Garmin. That is a challenge to say the least. Alex is to his singing lessons and when he comes back, we’ll figure it out together Yesterday I suddenly had a great contact with Strava, where Spencer saw that I was nearby Spencer and Kate, I met in California on their way to the south and we wrote together all the way into Mexico Spencer and Kate are now married and living in Vancouver I was surprised to hear from them and suggested meeting them this month or in October We had a wonderful time together in 2014 crossing the Baja California.
Today I made a message on Strava in which I asked them to visit them at the end of the month Vancouver is only about 100 km from here I can use one of the cars of Alex if I want to and cycling towards there is a possibility too, I’ll wait their answer on my message and decide what to do
The afternoon I went with a car from Alex and Megan to do some shopping. The cable I needed to connect the Garmin GPS to the computer wouldn’t connect. So first I went to “Best Buy” where I, after a long search, found a cable with a connector (USB C to Micro USB B). Then I went to the Walmart. In Europe there is no comparison. In Ede where I live, there is an Albert Heijn XL, The Walmart must be about 6 times bigger. I came out of the shop with Cliffbars, Quaker oatmeal for breakfast and Knorr dry meals. Then I went to REI in search for a little frying pan and a small spatula. This to change the breakfast with some (American) Pancakes.
The late afternoon, we first went to walk the dogs around the neighborhood and in the rainforest of the North West coast. Boy, how beautiful these forests are, so lush and green! We did hear several native birds and Alex did even see an owl flying by, you don’t hear them fly! Also, we picked several berries, of whom the name was mentioned and I write them down here: • Thimble berry, • Indian Plum, • Oso berry • Huckleberry.
After the dogs we went to have diner, which we took with us, because we were going to the circus! We bought sandwiches (big ones) in café Rumba, a Peruvian restaurant, and some Peruvian lemonade, it was delicious!
At the circus, on the Bellingham waterfront, there was a traditional tent erected and it was busy with people! Inside everybody was anxious what to expect, no circus animals were there! The circus people were busy with all kind of tasks, checking tickets, selling sugar candies and regulating all other things needed to operate this temporary circus (once a month they perform). The acts were funny and sometimes very daring and beautiful preformed. Magician, rope acts, singing, so beautiful. See the pictures and you see some of the magic it had! This was a great surprise and it was nothing a circus I remembered (so long ago!). We went home and talked about the wonderful event we watched.
Another day of the prequel of the GDMBR is over!
