Another testride on my own
Day 12 GDMBR Sunday June 22st 2025,
Today I finally am redeemed of the jetlag, I think. Slept well and didn’t wake up very early! I made a picture of the beautiful lichens (korstmossen in Dutch) on the balcony, before I went on the cycle trip today. These Lichens are a sign that the air quality is very good.
Then I did the ride. I planned to ride the beautiful Chuckanut Drive. A wonderful road along the bay / coast. You should think; along the coast; that is flat, well I can say, it was far from flat. The total ascent was 216 meters, The descent was 289 meters. The weather was cool, 14 degrees Celsius, no rain and sometimes a little sunshine. In the end I rode to Bow, a tiny crossroad “town” with a lovely bakery. Here I had a small lunch, before I went back.
The road back was partly along the Chuckanut road and partly on a disused railway track, where the gradients were not bad, no cars, but a lot of hikers, some with dogs and cyclists. In town I went to the supermarket to buy oat milk, some yoghurt, strawberries and granola. With that I took a detour to the house of Alex and Megan, to avoid the steep 12% grade of the road they live at. I charged all electronic gear and put all facts in my little notebook and rested a bit.
Now I am writing the journal part of today with some pictures and will post it on Polarsteps. I started with posting the day of yesterday, which was a little delayed. Another very successful day; I did another test run by bike and felt the confidence in climbing a hill, the Technik of using the gears properly without getting exhausted.
That last thing is maybe the most important!
