Meeting Scott and Lorry
Day 7 GDMBR Wednesday June 18th 2025,
After a wonderful breakfast and a little bit sleep in, still had some trouble with the Jetlag (again). I wanted to work on the bicycle, take it out of the box and put it all together. I did that while Alex was having a friend working on a specific woodworking project in a camper van. With hardwood he made a special accessory to fix a rolling kitchen table in the camper.
The afternoon I took a little nap and after that sorted out my gear a little bit. We also went to the food co-op, which was a supermarket with bio food products where I bought several items for the coming week and the GDMBR itself. Megan had to take care of her little girl of friends of Megan and Alex. The family of the little girl did travel for four or six weeks in Japan so we had a lot of things to talk about, at least with the father of the little girl. We said to talk to each other later. I am looking forward to that!
We had to rush to meet Scott and his wife Lorry. There we had a wonderful dinner together. We talked about all kind of things; among other, his wife Lorry did live in the Netherlands for several months, so we had to talk of that of course, which was very funny. We also talked about the trip together. Scott is a bit hesitating, but now decided to go to start with us in Jasper, which will be great fun.
The day to start with the GDMBR will be depending on the operating again on Cleo. She had an aggressive cancer on his ear, which wasn’t taken out completely, so she has to be operated as soon as possible. It might be possible that we start at about 3 July in Jasper depending of the date, if it could be taken days before that! How we do that specifically will be determined when we’re there Scott will have to gather more gear, but Alex will help them with that, I took a cradle and a roll for a steering bar roll and a saddle bag. Scott will come and visit Alex Thursday, Thursday afternoon. We will discuss the gear issues with Alex and I can show him my gear what I take with me. Scott will have his first long trip with the gear strapped on his bike. His Physical strength cycling will be excellence.
It was late before I was in bed, but another very rewarding and fun day with friends!
