Day 14 GDMBR Tuesday June 24st 2025,

After the hard, intense, day yesterday I will take a, kind of, resting day. No lengthy cycling today.

My GPS connected with the heart rate strap did evaluate my training yesterday: The Aerobe part was too hard and recovery had to be taken. In order not to “over-train”, I took some rest. So, I slept well and got up late.

I had a good breakfast and received a nice birthday cake of the party yesterday. This tasted great as an additive breakfast. Alex showed the maps I wasn’t sure were on the micro–SD I installed on the Garmin GPS. I was very relieved! I went to the Walmart to do some shopping, because the safety of my bike wasn’t shure and I could use a car from Alex and Megan, I used the car to do the shopping. The driving in the USA is different, but, in a way, relaxing. It was busy on the roads and I did see that massive Tesla truck, what an ugly monster…

At Haggen supermarket, I bought several fresh fruit and oat milk. Outside I did see a very special vehicle, an electric powered tricycle. I went to the people standing next to the vehicle and talked to them. It turned out, they had bad luck with the vehicle, the battery just died, there was a problem with the connections, somewhere in the vehicle. Another problem; the company that build the car / bicycle went bankrupt…. Now they asked a supervisor of the supermarket, to have the vehicle parked until they sorted out to get it hauled to get it repaired. I said farewell to Sally and Tom and went home to Alex and Megan.

I just reviewed the tools I did took to the USA. Several (quite heavy) were taken off the tools I will take with me. I did order a small ratchet Rocket tool from Topeak. A small and very useful tool to replace several tools I now ditched of my gear to take with me.

Later, early tonight, I will go to a baseball game here in Bellingham! I will report this tonight or tomorrow. Also, I received the bear spray from Alex for during the GDMBR. At the end of the ride, I will return it, hopefully, unused!

After a small diner we went to the stadium of the Bellingham Bells. It was a very busy with a happy atmosphere. Whole families with kids sitting on the grass next to the baseball field on quilts, eating, drinking and talking with each other and other families. Some nice detail; at a certain moment several children were collecting garbage with special buckets. I heard the children received a sweet or other snack for a full bucket! Such a simple solution and maybe even a very good education moment for the children? The game went not so good for the Bellingham Bells, they lost against the Apple Sox from Wenatchee.

Another wonderful day closer to the real GDMBR!
