Culpeper
Day 2 GDMBR, June 13th 2025
I woke up early, as expected. But I was rested well. I wrote the first day (typed) and posted it. Wayne and I were going to have breakfast in town. A real breakfast restaurant where workers and people of the area came, talked and had breakfast. It was really cozy. The meal was typical American; Gravy, bacon, eggs and I choose an extra (my favorite) American Blueberry Pancake. I loved it!
Back at the house we talked about a new plan! Wayne was expressing his big wish of doing the Route 66 bicycle route together! I was very enthusiastic about it. The plan is (a rough plan so far) to go to Los Angeles and start at the Santa Monica Pier. Wayne and I will cycle and Dianne will drive a van to carry the luggage. We will stay in hotels where Dianne will “make camp” and cycle towards us on her electrical supported recumbent. The ride will be, relatively easy, due to the lack of luggage we normally carry. If Wayne is having a hard day or moment, he can take the van and will cycle on later together with me. The end of the ride will be Chicago. A very sudden surprise trip plan, I am very excited! This story will have a follow up!
The afternoon we went to the Culpepper festival. I didn’t know what to expect but it was fun. A college terrain was filled with stalls with all kind of people and organizations which handed out all kind of stuff; like balloons, stickers, sweets and other knickknacks. All very friendly people. There were food trucks with overpriced food and drinks. Also, the helicopter of the air rescue was there, ambulances, police, sheriffs and several firetrucks. There was very loud music, but people enjoyed it all over!
I was treated with a burger and took water with it, which was fine since I don’t drink alcohol. One strange thing, EVERYBODY, needs to show they are over 21, which is the limit for buying alcohol. Even Wayne had to show his papers!!!
Another wonderful day went by so fast.
